Which Los Angeles Dodgers players will be participating in the 2026 World Baseball Classic?

There's no shortage of Dodgers.

Finalizing the rosters for the 2026 World Baseball Classic was not without drama. Insurance issues popped up for several stars across Major League Baseball, and Los Angeles Dodgers' infielder Miguel Rojas was among the players blocked from participating. Teams often are willing to let their players participate, but for certain players (aging, oft-injured, pitchers), there are inherent injury risks that can't be ignored.

While Rojas will remain at camp with the Dodgers during the World Baseball Classic, Los Angeles will be well represented. Of course, there are the usual participants, such as Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and some players on the fringes of the organization that will also be playing in the event.

Exhibition games will take place on March 3 and March 4, featuring a slew of national teams playing against Major League Baseball teams. On March 4, the Dodgers will host Team Mexico. Classic pool play starts on March 5 and will last two weeks, with the final played on March 17.

  • Edwin Díaz, Puerto Rico
  • Jake Gelof, Israel
  • Hyeseong Kim, Korea
  • Antonio Knowles, Great Britain
  • Shawndrick Oduber, Netherlands
  • Shohei Ohtani, Japan
  • Will Smith, United States
  • Christian Suarez, Venezuela
  • Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Japan

Some of the coolest moments of the World Baseball Classic happen when teammates play against each other. There will be few matchups better than when Shohei Ohtani was on the mound against Mike Trout during the last World Baseball Classic championship game between Japan and the United States, but seeing Díaz potentially face some of his new Dodgers teammates will be a fun sight.

As for Ohtani, he will not be pitching during the World Baseball Classic this time around. While confirming that the Dodgers expect Ohtani to be in the starting rotation for the duration of the regular season, Dave Roberts told reporters the reigning National League MVP will not be used as a pitcher with Team Japan.

That does rob Dodgers fans of the chance of seeing Ohtani square off against Smith, but perhaps he gets an at-bat against Díaz.
