Dodgers Continue to Trim Roster

My final 25 man roster prediction took another hit today, but really he was the guy I had as the 25th man, as Ramon Troncoso was optioned to minor league camp today. The Dodgers roster now sits at 36 players, meaning 11 more cuts need to be made.

It also means Lance Cormier and Scott Elbert remain the final 2 candidates standing for the last bullpen spot. The other interesting piece of news is that Tim Redding has been informed that he will begin the season in AAA, but will likely be called up for an April 10 start vs the Padres, in order to give Clayton Kershaw and Chad Billingsley an extra day off early in the season. That brings the players remaining in camp to 35.

Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times has a great article on Dodger manager Don Mattingly and his hands on approach thus far during camp. Something I think this club sorely needed after last years second half debacle. Also if you are looking for a great Dodger reporter to follow on twitter follow Dylan at http://twitter.com/dylanohernandez He will give you the best and most up to date Dodger news, plus he’s funny and does a great job of making fun of Giants beat reporters, so what’s not to like.

The Dodgers final game in Arizona is today against Cleveland. The Dodgers lineup will be as follows:

  1. Aaron Miles 3B
  2. Ivan De Jesus 2B
  3. Andre Ethier RF
  4. Matt Kemp CF
  5. James Loney 1B
  6. Xavier Paul LF
  7. AJ Ellis C
  8. Jamey Carroll SS
  9. Chad Billingsley

Tune in after the game for the latest Dodgers news and analysis of today’s action.
