Breaking News Dodgers Have Major Roster Shuffle

facebooktwitterreddit

According to multiple reports the Dodgers have activated Juan Uribe, Marcus Thames and Blake Hawksworth from the DL. They have also reportedly sent John Ely and Ivan De Jesus Jr back to AAA. They also did something they should have done in spring training, they designated Jay Gibbons and Juan Castro for assignment. Meaning they will be on waivers, and if they clear waivers, which they both should, then they could accept an assignment to AAA.

But if you do the math you see they activated three players and got rid of four, so who is the fourth player who will be joining the club? The Dodgers have purchased the contract of Dee Gordon from AAA and he will be in uniform tonight in Philadelphia. WOW!

No one and I repeat no one saw that one coming, numerous Dodger sources went so far as to say there was no way Gordon would be called up before September. Ironically, the day the MLB draft begins the Dodgers have finally decided to go with a much anticipated youth movement. Sands keeps his roster spot, Dee Gordon gets promoted, and Rubby De La Rosa makes his first start tomorrow.

If the Dodgers were looking for a way to shake things up and possibly get more fans to show up to the park they have certainly done that. More news to come once the beat reporters have a chance to talk to Mattingly prior to the game but for now here is the Dodgers lineup for tonight vs Philly lefty Cliff Lee:

1. Jamey Carroll SS

2. Aaron Miles 2B

3. Marcus Thames LF

4. Matt Kemp CF

5. Juan Uribe 3B

6. Casey Blake 1B

7. Jerry Sands RF

8. Rod Barajas C

9. Ted Lilly P

Again shocking news stay tuned as there will certainly be more news to come.
