It turns out you can watch Los Angeles Dodgers prospect Gavin Lux play baseball pretty soon, after all.

Major League Baseball and the Players Association, in conjunction with Sony Entertainment, announced the creation of an MLB The Show Players League on Friday, an effort aimed at raising money for Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Boys & Girls Clubs of Canada, according to multiple reports.

Each Major League team will have one representative to participate in a round-robin tournament in which real-life Major Leaguers take the controls of MLB The Show in a competition against the representatives of every other team. After the 29 “regular season” games are completed, the top eight teams will advance to the postseason.

Gavin Lux will represent the Dodgers.

The league is set to begin on April 10 with Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Blake Snell matching up against Cincinnati Reds pitcher Amir Garrett. Games will be spaced out throughout the month of April with the postseason scheduled to begin on April 30, and the virtual World Series to be played on May 2.

Fans can watch streams of the games on a variety of digital platforms, including each player’s Twitch channel and Youtube.

MLB, MLBPA and Sony will collectively make a $5,000 donation on behalf of each participant to a Boys and Girls Club affiliate located near their home team’s city. The player who proves his MLB The Show skills are the best will receive an extra $25,000 donation.

With the baseball season suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, the league and players are searching for creative ways to keep fans engaged, while following social distancing guidelines. This is a perfect opportunity for fans to follow along with some of their favorite players while knowing the tournament is raising money for a good cause.
