Former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford has been arrested in Houston.

Carl Crawford has been arrested for domestic violence in Texas. The former Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder has been charged with assaulting his ex-girlfriend at her home in May, according to KHO 11 News in Houston. He has been released on $10,000 bond.

Crawford is accused of choking the woman and repeatedly slamming her head against the wall, according to court documents obtained by KHO 11. He is also accused of holding her at gunpoint as he attacked her.

The incident allegedly was initiated after a text exchange between Crawford and the woman, with the former MLB star becoming angry at her apartment the next day when asking her about another man she was dating, as described by KHOU 11 from court documents.

Luckily, the woman was able to escape and seek help from the police. Investigators later found threatening text messages on her phone from Crawford.

Carl Crawford was recently in the news for a double drowning at his Houston home.

Crawford was recently in the news following a double drowning  that occurred in his backyard pool two weeks ago when a woman tried to rescue a five-year-old boy in the water, and both failed to survive. He issued a statement expressing remorse for the drownings.

"“My Hearts Heavy,” Crawford’s message shared on Instagram read. “The tragic events that occurred at my home will be with me forever. I’m at a loss for words. I’ve struggled all week to manage by emotions and I keep thinking of the families of those who’ve passed and their grief, I know they have it the hardest. They are the first and last thing I think of these days. Please keep them in your prayers, I know they will always be in mine.”"

The woman who drowned trying to rescue the small boy has been identified as Kasen Hersi. She was reportedly staying at Crawford’s house to film music videos. Since leaving the game of baseball, Crawford has worked as CEO of an independent record label in Houston, Texas.

There has been no indication of foul play surrounding the drownings, as a Houston police spokeswoman told the Houston Chronicle the boy was swimming and started to have trouble breathing, causing Hersi to try to rescue him.

The 38-year-old, Crawford, played for the Dodgers between 2013-2016, acquired in the deal that brought fan-favorite Adrian Gonzalez to Los Angeles. After a strong debut season in Chavez Ravine, injuries marred his final three seasons before he retired.
