Now-Diamondbacks starting pitcher Zach Davies has piled up an impressive track record during his career against the Los Angeles Dodgers, but that all changed on Wednesday during a week that’s seen Davies in the news for non-baseball reasons.

Prior to this week’s action, Arizona’s fourth loss in as many days against a gelling Dodgers team, Davies held a 1.08 career ERA at Dodger Stadium as a member of the Brewers, Padres, Cubs and now D-Backs.

On Wednesday, he held a 2-1 lead until the bottom of the fourth when the Dodgers teed off, starting with a Justin Turner three-run shot to change the narrative.

Well … it didn’t change every narrative.

Davies’ name has circulated this week due to his now-ex-wife’s Instagram post, alleging nasty behavior from the right-hander during the divorce process. Los Angeles Times beat writer Dylan Hernández, cued in on the drama, made light of Davies’ alleged misdeeds as the Dodgers lit him up.

Perfect timing, and you love to see it from such a reputable source.

Dodgers jump all over Zach Davies, who gets a troll job from a Los Angeles Times columnist

So … yeah, let’s go ahead and crown him. Well-placed snark, Dylan.

In an attempt at the briefest of summaries of Davies’ apparent actions, his former partner alleges he cut off all communication with her while they were in separate states, texting her at 6 AM to break things off before blocking her on all apparatuses. The parties did not speak for over a year and the public was none the wiser until the dam broke this week.

As she wrote in her confessional Instagram post this week, “Today I am claiming my power back from someone who never deserved it in the first place.”

Clearly, Justin Turner felt the exact same way.

Davies’ alleged ghosting has been the talk of the baseball town this week, marking the first time the right-hander has ever been a topic of conversation.

Needless to say, Turner’s home run came at the perfect time for a Dodgers team that needed a spark, as well as a Dodgers beat crew that had some very solid jokes in reserve for a moment like this.
