The Los Angeles Dodgers will open the stateside portion of their 2025 season at home on Thursday against the Detroit Tigers.
Technically, the Dodgers' Opening Day was over a week ago in Japan, when they faced the Chicago Cubs at the Tokyo Dome on March 18 to kick off the MLB Tokyo Series. With that in mind, there shouldn't be any major surprises on Thursday's Opening Day roster – though a handful of players from Los Angeles' 31-man travel roster obviously won't make the cut for Thursday's home opener against the Tigers.

Dodgers' 2025 Opening Day Lineup
The Dodgers' batting order in 2025 remains relatively unchanged from last season and will look like this against Tarik Skubal on Thursday afternoon:

They'll have a tough challenge ahead, but much like they did with Shota Imanaga, they could work Skubal's pitch count on Thursday and force the Tigers to go to the bullpen early.
Dodgers' 2025 Opening Day Starting Rotation
As for the starting rotation, the Dodgers made some high-profile additions this offseason – namely, Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki – that leave them in a good spot even with Ohtani still not yet built up as a starting pitcher. Their rotation will likely be:
- Blake Snell, LHP
- Yoshinobu Yamamoto, RHP
- Tyler Glasnow, RHP
- Roki Sasaki, RHP
- Dustin May, RHP
Tony Gonsolin and Clayton Kershaw are waiting in the wings, too.
Dodgers' 2025 Opening Day Bullpen
In the Dodgers' bullpen, they arguably have the deepest unit in the league. Here's who will start the year with the team:
- Tanner Scott
- Kirby Yates
- Blake Treinen
- Alex Vesia
- Anthony Banda
- Ben Casparius
- Luis Garcia
- Jack Dreyer
Nick Frasso, Landon Knack, Bobby Miller, Matt Sauer, Justin Wrobleski, Hunter Feduccia, Hyeseong Kim and James Outman have all been optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City but remain on the Dodgers' 40-man roster. Additionally, several Dodgers players will open the 2025 season on the injured list, including Gonsolin, Michael Kopech, Evan Phillips, Edgardo Henriquez, Emmet Sheehan and Kyle Hurt (15-day); and Kershaw, Brusdar Graterol, Michael Grove, Gavin Stone and River Ryan (60-day).
As the Dodgers get back to full strength, they will have an embarrassment of riches in the pitching department, which will either set them up perfectly for a deep postseason run or give them even more ammo to work with at the trade deadline.
