The Los Angeles Dodgers' triumph over the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 7 of the 2025 World Series naturally irked a lot of other fanbases, but it's one thing for the they're-ruining-baseball crowd to get upset at the Dodgers for doing everything in their power to win (which, you know, is kind of the point of sports).
It's another for the Dodgers' play-by-play announcer to get caught up in the mix, but seeing as Joe Davis was on the call for Fox Sports during the World Series, he also managed to endure his fare share of criticism.
Admittedly, it can be jarring for a neutral fan to watch the announcer of the Fall Classic turn around and broadcast the World Series parade. But that's literally Davis' job. He's been Fox's lead MLB announcer since 2022, and he's had the main job with the Dodgers since Vin Scully stepped down in 2017.
And, in response to all the criticism he's received for his attempts at being a neutral national broadcaster, Davis simply accepted it as an occupational hazard.

Dodgers' Joe Davis accepts criticism of World Series broadcasting as part of the job
"These are exciting, highly emotional times as fans. It’s what makes sports great that we all get a little irrational at points. Dodger fans are going to be upset that I get excited for the other team. The other team’s going to be upset I’m the Dodger guy," Davis said on the Awful Announcing Podcast. "If that’s my scoreboard — trying to please people on that — I’m going to drive myself crazy."
It certainly was off-putting for Dodgers fans to hear Davis make over-eager calls when the Blue Jays made something happen -- his call of Bo Bichette's stomach-churning home run in Game 7 remains an unkillable ear-worm -- but again, that's simply his job.
There are other announcers that call local games for various teams and then serve as neutral broadcasters during the playoffs. Davis just catches so much flak because the Dodgers are so successful.
Those complaining about the World Series parade are especially egregious. He literally did the same exact thing last year when the Dodgers toppled the New York Yankees in the World Series. Maybe if MLB fans are tired of listening to him call championship victories for the Dodgers, they should try asking one of the other 29 teams in the league to beat Los Angeles in the playoffs.
