The only thing better than a massive free agent signing is when the star you're bringing in is being stolen from one of your chief rivals. That's exactly the proposal Anthony Castrovince threw out for the Los Angeles Dodgers on MLB Network.
Castrovince sees the best free-agent fit for the Dodgers as Bo Bichette, who tormented the Dodgers in the World Series as a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, posting a .348/.444/.478 line in the seven-game showdown.
No team has been more aggressive in free agency than the Blue Jays, who kicked off the winter with the first real blockbuster, overpaying Dylan Cease.
The Dodgers bluffed that they'd be having a quiet offseason before addressing their biggest need — the bullpen — in the grandest possible fashion, swiping Edwin Diaz and infuriating the baseball world in the process.
Diaz doesn't solve all of Los Angeles's needs, however, but Bichette could go a long way towards making the roster nearly flawless.
MLB Network's Bo Bichette to the Dodgers proposal solves the club's biggest remaining need
The outfield is commonly thought of as the biggest issue left for the Dodgers to face, and while there is some reported interest in Kyle Tucker, the Dodgers apparently see enough red flags to prefer a shorter-term, high AAV deal over the long-term mega-deal he seeks.
That's where the genius of their current roster construction truly comes into play. The Dodgers are loaded with versatile players. Instead of filling the void in left field by signing a left fielder, the Dodgers can send Tommy Edman out to center field and move Andy Pages to left, creating an opening at second base for Bichette to fill.

Bichette would then bring one of the best contact bats to the Dodgers' lineup, and with that comes ample power, too. He would also shore up a hidden weakness among the Dodgers' regular — the offensive performance among the rotating cast that played at the keystone in 2025.
Last season, Dodgers' second basemen combined for a .649 OPS, which ranked 24th in the league. Outside of his injury-plagued and disappointing 2024 campaign, Bichette has never posted an OPS lower than .802 in a season.
Stealing Bichette away could cause the Blue Jays to scramble, potentially committing a mistake by overpaying for Kyle Tucker or Cody Bellinger to fill the resulting hole in their lineup.
The Dodgers are the true chaos agent of the offseason, and their big swings can send their rivals into a frenzy. In stealing away Bichette, they could cut the Blue Jays twice.
