As the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays prepare to meet in the World Series later this week, José Ureña is relaxing at home and getting his ring finger sized – regardless of the outcome.

During the 2025 season, Ureña appeared at the Major League level for five different teams – two of which happened to be the Dodgers and the Blue Jays – and is therefore guaranteed a World Series ring, no matter which team wins it all.

Ureña is the definition of a journeyman, having played for 11 different MLB organizations in his eight-year career. His five different teams in 2025 alone tied a Major League record for most franchises played for in a single season. Fortunately for him, two of those franchises went on to win pennants at the end of the year.

José Ureña is guaranteed a World Series ring after logging MLB innings with both Dodgers and Blue Jays in 2025

Ureña signed a Major League contract with the Blue Jays in early May after being designated for assignment by the New York Mets. He made six appearances for Toronto (two starts) and pitched 12 1/3 innings, posting a 3.65 ERA. The Blue Jays designated him for assignment on May 31, and the Dodgers signed him to a contract to aid their injury-depleted bullpen three days later.

Ureña made just two appearances for the Dodgers, allowing three earned runs over three innings, and was designated for assignment just a week after he signed. He elected free agency, opting to sign a minor league deal with the Minnesota Twins – who proceeded to select his contract and become his fourth Major League club of the season.

Minnesota designated Ureña for assignment at the end of August, at which point he signed a Major League deal with the Los Angeles Angels to finish out his nomadic campaign.

Ureña's stint with the Dodgers was very brief, but it was just enough to qualify him for the ultimate reward. What'll all the haters have to say about the Dodgers' bloated payroll when Ureña gets his ring in 2026? Yeah, that's what we thought.
