Before you know it, Cactus League play will be here and Los Angeles Dodgers fans will be debating the 2023 Opening Day lineup with fervor. There are a number of positions up for grabs and a lot of young talent ready to make an impact.

With the exception of catcher, first base and right field, the Dodgers will have a combination of starting position competitions/pecking order competitions. Let's run down the list.

Second Base: Gavin Lux, Chris Taylor, Max Muncy

Shortstop: Gavin Lux, Miguel Rojas

Third Base: Max Muncy, Miguel Vargas

Left Field: Chris Taylor, Trayce Thompson, James Outman

Center Field: Chris Taylor, Trayce Thompson, James Outman, Jason Heyward

So much is undefined beyond Will Smith, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. Don't forget about the bullpen, either! A number of roles will be up for grabs thanks to Blake Treinen's injury and the departures of Chris Martin, Tommy Kahnle, Craig Kimbrel and David Price.

Spring training isn't usually this eventful for Dodgers fans, who might be accustomed to one, maybe two, position battles. With so many changes following the 2022 campaign (unfortunately another disappointing one), the Dodgers are seemingly looking to see what they have in their up-and-coming young talent before they splurge once again in free agency prior to the 2024 season.

In order to be prepared for what's to come, here's everything fans need to know about the spring training slate.
