The crowning jewel of baseball's offseason, the Winter Meetings, officially kick off on Monday, Dec. 9. The Winter Meetings are always expected to be a hotbed of signing and trade activity that inform the tenor of the upcoming season.

The Dodgers don't have as much work to do as a lot of other teams, but fans should still be on the lookout for activity, especially with Juan Soto, who is widely expected to sign before the end of the event and set off a domino effect through the rest of the free agent crop.

What are Major League Baseball's Winter Meetings?

MLB's Winter Meetings are an annual four-day conference during which front office members, players, agents, and journalists converge on the same hotel to hammer out free agent deals and trades. They're usually the highlight of the offseason (though last year's was an exception), and fans usually expect some of the year's biggest free agents to make decisions during Winter Meetings.

Additionally, the Rule 5 draft and Draft Lottery take place during the event. The Classic Baseball Era Committee also met on Sunday night to decide on the Hall of Fame futures of eight players: Dick Allen, Ken Boyer, John Donaldson, Steve Garvey, Vic Harris, Tommy John, Dave Parker, and Luis Tiant. Allen and Parker were elected.

Where are the 2024 MLB Winter Meetings?

The Winter Meetings are in Dallas, Texas this year, at the Hilton Anatole Hotel. Most will start trickling in on Sunday night and leave on Thursday, so we should expect most of the action to take place from Monday through Wednesday.

Dodgers Rumors: Most notable 2024 Winter Meetings speculation

Just like last year, the biggest name to watch out for will be Soto, who got the ball rolling Sunday night by agreeing to a record-setting $765 million deal with the Mets. The Dodgers apparently had some skin in the game until the end, but fans should probably be looking out for a quick pivot to finishing up that Teoscar Hernández deal. Blake Treinen's two-year deal Sunday night didn't exactly shatter the earth, but it was a nice reunion.

The Dodgers may also still be looking for starting pitching, though Corbin Burnes and Max Fried seem unlikely now. Still, Jack Flaherty and Walker Buehler are both still out there, along with a myriad of B- or C- tier guys that LA could sign as their James Paxton of the year. Nolan Arenado is also a name to watch out for as trade rumors buzz.

LA has been a quiet presence at Winter Meetings in recent years; last year, their most notable "move" was Dave Roberts revealing that they had, indeed, been talking to Shohei Ohtani and had even hosted him at Dodger Stadium. Hopefully, Andrew Friedman and LA's front office will give us more to work with this year.
