Every little move the Dodgers have made at spring training has been meticulously tracked by members of the Japanese media. They're mostly looking out for Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto, sure, but it's led to a couple of bizarre, hilarious glimpses at the rest of the team, which only re-emphasize how much fun the Dodgers are having in camp.

Dave Roberts was caught breakdancing (pretty well, actually) and then cracking up with Mookie Betts in a clip that has already been heavily meme'd on Twitter. Ohtani and Freddie Freeman were also spotted casually practicing the Dodgers' new hit celebration, which was debuted by Kiké Hernández in his first spring training game as he cruised into second on an easy double.

The origins of these celebrations tend to be treated like trade secrets, but fans are already speculating that it's a reference to Dragon Ball Z. Last year's "hands in the air, wiggle the hips" celebration was met with mixed reactions, especially when the team would still employ it it in blowout games, and the Dodgers have (of course) already started taking flack for the new one online after Freeman celebrated after a single last week. However, the Dodgers are 7-2 with the best run differential in baseball through two weeks of spring training, so we say celebrate away.

Naysayers are already in the Twitter replies of multiple different Dodgers outlets who have reposted the celebration. Some are worried that someone will pull a muscle doing it, others are raining on everyone's parade by saying something to the effect of "win first, celebrate later," which is sort of a ridiculous sentiment at this point because the Dodgers have been winning. Spring training and the regular season are very different things, but no one can deny that the Dodgers are looking very good at this point.

So let's just let the guys have fun, shall we? The Dodgers were geared up for success in 2024 even before they signed Ohtani, Yamamoto, and so on, and now they're in an even better position. And sure, we all might be traumatized a little by Cody Bellinger's celebration-related shoulder injury back in 2020, but this is literally just a knee raise and hip twitch. We should desperately hope that the Dodgers aren't so breakable that a hit celebration is going to take them out.
